Nation's top JUCO WR chooses the Tide

Malik Benson, the nation's top JUCO wide receiver, has committed to Alabama. The 6-1, 190-pound Benson chose the Tide over Georgia, LSU, Oregon and Tennessee.

As a freshman last season at Hutchinson CC in Kansas, Benson had over 1,100 yards receiving and scored 11 touchdowns. The 6-1, 190-pound WR will be another big-play weapon for the Tude offense in 2023.

"He's a great person and player," Hutchinson head coach Drew Dallas tells TI. "He came here very raw as a receiver, but we saw his speed (10.4 100 meters) and we knew he could be a great player.

"He's worked very hard to develop his skills as a receiver. It's important to him to become a complete player. He's come a long way the last year refining his understanding of routes."

Benson becomes the second member of TI's Firecracker Five to commit to the Tide. Four-star offensive lineman Ryqueze McElderry of Anniston picked Alabama on Monday.
